Our Recommendation: The choice in batteries is an important decision, and should depend on several things. The first thing to be concidered is the use of the car. If you are using the car on the street at all, we recommend the el-pc925 battery on any car. If you are using the car on the track only, the el-pc680 may be a valid option for you. Bare bone track cars without radio, heat, power windows, etc will be fine with the el-pc680 as long as they are not left with accessories running without the car running or on a charger. Also please remember these are AGM (dry cell) batteries, and while they are extremely powerful for their size, they do not have the same reserve capacity that your conventional battery does. For this reason, Odyssey recommends either isolating the battery using a battery disconnect switch, or maintaining the battery using a battery tender when not using the vehicle for extended periods of time.
Another common question that we get is "What do the different options mean and which option is suitable for me?" Basically there are two options.
The first options is signifed by a "T" as in el-pc925T. The stands for positive post style terminals like your factory battery would have. If you intend to keep your factory battery cables you will want to use this style terminal. If there is no "T" in the part number, you will recieve a battery with female terminals. This is a great option for somebody who is running new cables and wants to save the .5lbs associated with the brass SAE cables and associated cable clamps.
The second option is signified by an "MJ" as in el-pc925MJ. MJ stands for metal jacket, which is basically a metal sleeve enclosing the battery. This option is recommended for high heat or high vibrations environments. Good examples of these would be cars where the battery is located in the hot engine bay (944), or cars that see a lot of off road use (rally cars).
